Our History

Nearly Two Centuries of Brotherhood

Harmony Lodge No. 6, AF & AM, was chartered in the 1840s — making it one of the oldest continuously operating Masonic lodges in the State of Texas. Founded in the port city of Galveston at a time when the island was the commercial and cultural capital of Texas, the lodge has witnessed and participated in the full sweep of the region's history.

Through the Civil War, the Great Storm of 1900, two World Wars, and the rebuilding of Galveston across generations, the brothers of Harmony Lodge have gathered, worked, and served. The lodge has counted among its members merchants, physicians, civic leaders, and ordinary men of good character — all united by a shared commitment to brotherly love, relief, and truth.

Today, Harmony Lodge No. 6 continues that tradition. We meet regularly, welcome men of all backgrounds who seek self-improvement and fellowship, and remain an active presence in the Galveston community.

Freemasonry calls each man to pursue moral and intellectual truth — to be better today than he was yesterday.
